JAR Spaying & Neutering Services
Juneau Animal Rescue believes that the best solution for pet overpopulation in our community is through spaying and neutering. We are excited to now be able to offer spay and neuter services to the public. Please read carefully for more information.
This is a high quality/high volume (HQ/HV) clinic, meaning modern techniques and trained staff will be used to care for all animals, and reasonable precautions will be used. However, animals will not have pre-operative bloodwork screening and intravenous catheters will not routinely be placed. This clinic is for young, healthy animals and is not appropriate for older animals or those with certain medical conditions.
Low-cost spaying and neutering is available for low-income qualified individuals and will be given scheduling precedence over full-price services. See income guidelines below.
The attending veterinarian may refuse to perform any procedure on any animal for any reason and applying or request for surgery does not guarantee your animal will be booked for the procedure. Animals undergoing surgery will be marked with a permanent ink tattoo that identifies them as sterile. Animals must be up to date on their rabies vaccine, or they will be vaccinated at the time of surgery.
If you wish to book an animal for surgery, please download and fill out an application below. Applications for low-cost services for low-income qualified individuals must be dropped off in person so that income verification documents can be reviewed in person. Applications for full-cost services can be emailed to surgery@akjar.org or dropped off in person. If you do not have access to e-mail or the internet, you may call (907) 789-0260 and we will mail you an application. After you have completed all the paperwork, a veterinary clinic staff member will contact you to schedule your pet’s surgery.
Low-income qualified applicants MUST drop off applications in person so that income verification documents can be reviewed in person. To ensure the security of your information, no copies of any income verification documentation will be kept by the Juneau Animal Rescue. Please do not mail or email income verification documents.
